Water Adventures Along Sleepy Hollow RunWHEN: 10:00 AM August 13thWHERE: Meet at Sleepy Hollow Parking Lot at end of Sleepy Hollow Road (see directions below) COST: Free but donations are appreciated WHAT TO BRING: Please wear boots/old sneakers and bring sun screen. If weather or stream conditions are unacceptable for walk we will reschedule for 10 AM on August 14th. Check web site for rescheduling information. DESCRIPTION: The overall concept of this interpretive lesson is aquatic ecosystems. Families will participate in a walk/wade in and along the Sleepy Hollow Run. The “Water Adventure” is an hour and thirty minute public program that will include science games, stories, and exploration to introduce the concept of water as a home for various creatures. The lesson begins with a brief talk about water uses, water safety, and a reading of Crawdad Creek, by Scott Russell Sanders. Families will then explore the area with a fun-filled science game. We will have a few opportunities to share our experiences and learn various things about the area. Information will be provided for families to continue teaching their children about nature.
